FAQ

Q: Is there a retail store where I can try these products on?

A: Unfortunately, we do about 90% of our business through direct-to-consumer sales, through our website and our catalog, and there are very few retail shops in the continental U.S. that sell our gear. However, our customer service staff is kind and knowledgeable, and if you have any questions, give us a call and we will help you out.

Q: Why do you use Nylon?

A: Nylon is a quick-drying synthetic fabric and offers excellent sun protection. We use Nylon because it is more rugged than any other fabric on the market. It doesn’t wear down like cotton or tear like polyester. It is breathable and lightweight, like polyester, and offers great versatility for any terrain. Just don’t get it too near the fire.

Q: Do you offer free shipping?

A: Unfortunately, we are a smaller company and due to the exorbitant costs of shipping, we are unable to offer it for free. However, if you subscribe to our email list, you will be privy to the variety of flash sales and discount offers we send out every few weeks, which often include free shipping.

Q: What’s the best piece of clothing for...[insert activity here]?

A: We don’t like to pigeonhole our clothing, and the truth is: this question comes down to personal preference. Our clothing is made to stand up to a variety of environments across a variety of activities, and which piece is best for you comes down to two factors: what are you doing, and where are you doing it? Based on these factors, we can help give you a recommendation if you call us, but at the end of the day every customer is going to have a different favorite for each activity!

Q: Can your clothes be washed in sinks and dried?

A: Our clothes can be washed just about anywhere, and most pieces will dry in 15-30 minutes, depending on the weather. They dry quickly, they can go through the dryer, and they’ll never shrink. That’s what makes them the perfect clothing for people on the go: lightweight, versatile, rugged and easy to take care of.

Q: How do I care for my InsectShield clothes?

A: The care directions on InsectShield clothing tell you to wash them separately from your regular clothing. The reason for this is that the more clothes in the washer with your InsectShield garments, the more garment-on-garment friction there will be, causing the InsectShield to rub off faster. However, this will not affect your other clothing and the permethrin the clothing is treated with is nontoxic and will not transfer to other articles of clothing.

Q: Do you do custom tailoring and repairs?

A: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer these services.

Q: What if I have a problem with my clothing?

A: You can visit our customer service/returns page to find out the procedure for returning an item. If you have any questions about returning your item, please give us a call. We are friendly and will help resolve your issue in the quickest and easiest way possible.

Q: You say to call if you have a question. When can I call?

A: We are in the office every week, M-F, from 9-5 Eastern time. If you are calling outside of this time, or if you call during work hours and don't get an answer, please leave a message on our machine and we will return it as quickly as we can. We try to return every message we recieve.

Q: How do you know you’re the “Toughest Clothes on the Planet?”

A: Our tagline isn’t just for show. Our clothes have been worn by people who have crossed the world’s largest deserts, hiked the US’s long trails, won adventure race world championships, navigated the oceans, climbed Everest, and hundreds of other insane accomplishments. We don’t use the motto lightly, and we think you will discover that it is true.
