Reason for Being: These are designed to live up to RailRiders specifications on light adventures while still looking good enough to wear out to dinner. The Backcountry Khakis are a blend of function and style, tough yet refined.
Fabric: Oxford textured “Allure” nylon. Think super fine, super lightweight, nylon Carhardt. Flexible, comfortable, and tough.
Strength In Simplicity: These are not our most technical pants, but rather they bridge the gap between “outdoors wear” and “fashion.” Try to find another pair of pants you can wear straight from the outdoors to the office.
I am going to miss these Backcountry Khakis pants would buy more if RailRiders had my size left. This is pretty much the ideal around town and travel pant I have bought many over the years very comfortable wrinkles hang out packs well etc. With zippers on the back pockets and a side pocket there is little chance of something falling out so can be used also for light hiking or in urban environments where there might be pickpockets. The side pocket can handle the biggest phone even smaller tablets in a crunch. The fabric is the classic nylon heavier than some of the other styles but still a good mid-weight. Repels liquids and dries quickly. The pants work particularly well for traveling their lightness means you can carry an extra pair or two without much weight or space you can get two or three of these in a suitcase in the space and weight of a pair of jeans. The newer Railriders pants tend to have cotton or hemp are heavier do not last as long. The closest current pant is probably the Adventure Khaki Pants I have a bunch of those they are lighter still but get a little cold in fall and winter and show wrinkles more.

Just retuned from 3 weeks in India on an active vacation. I took only two pair of railrider backcountry kahikis and thats all i needed. They washed easily in the sink and dried very quickly. Fit well and very comfortable. I would prefer thay came in a 34 " length but were easy to hem .The 34 " waist fit as expected. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent pants. I bought 2 pairs of these (khaki and slate) over 3 years ago and have worn the khaki ones almost daily for that whole time. They fit me perfect and are made of an extremely comfortable and breathable cloth. The gusseted crotch makes for very comfortable wear. I had a few minor issues with them over the 3 years I had to resew the button the side zipper failed so I sewed it closed the fabric pilled heavily in the crotch area and the front zipper was on the verge of failure. Unfortunately my khakis took a sharp table corner in the thigh and it split the fabric. My slate pair is still going strong though that is understandable because I wore the khakis over 90 of the time. I just bought a new pair of the khakis and I'm glad to see the fit is exactly the same and the fabric feels smoother so I wonder if there have been changes to the fabric to correct the pilling issue. Great pants
