Shorts are great Versatile lightweight have so many pockets including secure pockets which I love for long hikes. I can not say to their longevity yet but if they are anything like my other Railriders gear I'm sure these will last years.. throug rough terrain hiking in the mountains etc. I deducted one star only because of cost.. even with a discount. paying shipping etc.. these are expensive.. that said if they last me 5 plus years ( like the rest of my gear from Rr) I'll be ok with that Also the weight is a little higher than their claimed weight.. by roughly an once..I know this isn't a big deal to most people but to thruhikers it usually it. I do love that they are 98 nylon and 2 spandex. I steer clear of items made from mostly polyester because it retains oils (skin oils sun block etc) point is over time no matter how much you wash the garmets certain kinds of polyester clothes they begin to smell over time and there's really nothing you can do... they have come up with neoteric polyester that is much better though..But Nylon is still my pick.. it's very quick drying light and comfortable I'm foot 1" 175lb athletic build and I got the size 32. They fit great (with some cinching of the waist band. ) there are also belt lopps you can use one of your lightweight belts if you need to.
