Whether you're out there fishing in the heat or going on a multiday hike, you want lightweight pants that give your legs full protection but don't trap your sweat. Our Bone Flats Pants provide maximum UPF 30+ sun-blocking protection, moisture-wicking comfort, super ventilation, and best of all, they dry in minutes. The durable, buttery-soft fabric is made with featherweight 1.5-oz Duralite nylon and polyester material. With 27-inch, breathable mesh panels running down the length of the inseams and outseams, you have the perfect air-flow solution to heat buildup that can make the most patient fisherman or thru-hiker want to call it a day. Additional features include: elastic at sides of waist for easy fit; articulated knees for comfort and mobility; and reinforced pocket opening and a zippered back pocket.
Reason for Being: Originally designed to be worn fishing the flats in warm waters, the idea behind this pant is to be as lightweight and breathable as a pair of shorts while providing much needed sun protection. These have since been picked up as a go-to piece for long trail hikers because of their durability and breathability.
Fabric: 1.5 ounce Duralite nylon is lighter than most of our pants. These are designed to feel like feathers and breath like you’re not wearing them.
UV Protection: Carries a sun protection rating of UPF 30+.
Side Vents: 27” of mesh ventilation runs from outer thigh to calf and another strip runs down the inner thigh, making sure that you feel every breeze on a hot day.
Needing to avoid the sun as much as possible In 2014 I bought my first 2 pair these pants to wear in SW Florida where I live. I lawn bowl fish the flats and hike year-round and I'm amazed that I sweat less in these pants than I used to in cotton shorts. I wear them for any and all activities when temperatures are above 60 degrees. They can be very casual with a T-Shirt and sandals or dressed up for dinner out and even look "casual-good" with a blazer. In 2017 I bought 2 more pairs since I was wearing them 90 of the time. They are very stain resistant and the originals look just as fine as the newer ones. I've also worn them in New Orleans and other Southern areas and get many comments from strangers who notice the side vents. Needless to say they have become a most important part of my wardrobe here in Florida.

Wanted SPF pants for hot high UV conditions as I move through the summer soccer scene in Southern California. The Bone Flats pants -- and the eco-mesh pants -- not only fit the billl they are the real deal. Just what I needed. Comfortable light-weight and practical...just what I needed. Now if I can squeeze some bone fishing in my summer would be complete.

I own the bone flats pants the ultralight Versa-Tac pants and the Tradewind pants. Living in Southwest Florida during summer months these pants are the lightest coolest best quality pants I have. I can wade the flats and fish in them then they dry out in minutes and look great in any restaurant or when early evening recreating. I have four pairs and wish I'd bought more because it appears they will no longer be available (I avoid sun on the skin as much as possible). The Tradewind pants are not nearly as cool to wear they don't look as classy for evening wear and they are not as comfortable to wade/fish in because the "balloon" so much more than the bone flats pants. I am very disappointed that the bone flats pants seem now to be unavailable.
