Are you really interested in long pants for the desert, jungle, or backcountry that are superlight, tough, and airy? With the Eco-Mesh Pants, you now have amazing temperatureregulating features. Constructed out of two-ply, 3-oz. Duralite nylon fabric, the tricked-out elements are 27-inch side zippers concealed behind vertical bands, which provide air flow to that one troubling hot spot encountered by most hikers: the crotch. Behind the tucked-away zippers are soft-mesh panels whose duty is to funnel air in and around your nether regions. With the zippers closed, the abrasion- resistant Eco-Mesh Pants resemble a traditional pair of khakis. Because the fabric is now treated with Insect Shield® technology, you have protection against mosquitoes, biting flies, and ticks. The fit is enhanced by elastic side panels at the waist, and sports two on-seam front pockets, 2 zippered back pockets. Super packable, with a 15-minute maximum drying time. Includes a new side-zippered security pocket.

Insect Shield: 100% safe permethrin treatment for your clothing that will repel harmful insects and ticks. Light weight fast drying you can hem the cuffs for a custom fit the lateral outsides on legs zip to expose a fine mesh that allows air circulation and best of all it's Insect Shield treated. A word about Insect Shield. Insect Shield it a fabric treatment with a synthetic chemical related to the active ingredient in chrysanthemum flowers. It was developed for the military now available to the public. Its an insecticide/repellant that's imbedded in the fabric fibers and will remain effective for 70 washings. I've used the treated clothing in ultra heavy mosquito infested areas in the Philippines and IT REALLY WORKS Remember for full protection you must have a Insect Shield treated hat buff for the neck shirt pant socks. Spending a few extra dollar for Insect Shield protection is a lot less expensive than being treated for malaria dengue ect. and it may save your life.

I have 2 sets of these pants. Yes they are that good. I have worn them for three weeks on a section hike of the PCT and 2 weeks on the TransJordan trail. Each hike involved tremendous sun exposure and high heat. These were comfortable throughout. The fit is comfortable with movement and climbing. Insect shield is a brilliant idea.

These pants are the best for spring/summer/fall hiking. They're fast-drying warm enough when you need that cool enough when you need that tick- and black fly-proof in my experience and exceptionally durable.Except when the puppy goes hard for my ankles and that's probably too hard to engineer for...
