The Hackney Henley

Henley shirts were named because they were the traditional uniform of rowers in the English town of Henley-on-Thames. The first Henley Royal Regatta was in 1839.  You’re an oarsman, you race in the seventh Seat behind the stroke.  Rowing is a grueling sport that uses every muscle in your body.  If feels good most of the time!  You’re a member of the Leander Club, a very prestigious lot who show off a mighty fancy trophy case. It’s 2023 and next week England is holding the 178th Henley Regatta. You live in Marlow, a picturesque town on the Thames.  Practice begins at 6:30am.  It’s a cold misty morning and the top of your 1962 MGB is stuck in the down position.  You reach for your new Hackney Henley for warmth. A beautiful top made with Techschmere (Technical Cashmere) with elbow patches and a patch chest pocket.  You leave your flat and jump into your British racing green MG to begin the 30-mile trip to the oldest and most prestigious Leander Club, located at Henley-0n-Thames, Oxfordshire.  Get your motor running…….
