Versatile and well constructed pack with strong hardware that operates smoothly. Well designed organization of pockets with good access to main compartments and plenty of exterior pockets. Holds a week's worth of casual clothing for travel with extra room for incidentals and travelling office materials (laptop etc). I added two aftermarket wraparound straps to cinch the load top and bottom for security and for improving pack fit. If it had these plus a stowable hipbelt for transferring the load and also a top rainflap for stashing extra outerwear it would be better for trekking. But it is exactly as advertised and very high quality as expected from Railriders.

Great carry-onI have taken my Weekender on the plane with me for 2 trips now. It gets me through security quickly because I can keep a camera and toiletries and everything else needing to be inspected all together for a quick removal and placement back in one of the big zippered compartments. I can open the main section like a clamshell stuff it full of rolled-up pants t-shirts and other clothes and still have room for my boat shoes raingear masks and all sorts of things The little zippered pocket keeps my boarding pass and other paperwork safe and ready and provides a perfect place to store parking info and claims for the fishing rods that I am going to need hours or even days later. The adjustable straps are smooth and comfy and can fit around both shoulders so I can move quickly to the terminal without it banging all around. I can board then mash everything into an overhead bin so I can still have some foot-room. After two punishing cross-country fishing trips it has held up great. All zippers. All stitching. All fabric. And when I am just traveling around town with my laptop it makes the perfect padded carrier that lets me keep work IDs and all my papers close-by. Has stood up to everything I have thrown at it so far. Very pleased with my purchase which should eventually pay for itself.

My initial unboxing. I will update my review after a trip to Spain using "The Weekender" in October 2021. I bought this pack for two reasons. First I'm a fan of RR and I've been using their products in the Outdoors for decades. Second I needed a carry-on pack for European travel. My first problem is with the disconnect and discrepancies between the listed weight in the catalog (28oz) the weight listed on the website (32oz) and the actual weight on my scale at home (36oz). Second the measurements for the pack are only listed in the catalog and not on the website. This gave me some pause because of the disconnect between the listed weights. I needed the pack to be within carry-on restrictions for European airline travel and I wasn't sure if the dimensions listed in the catalog were correct. I measured the pack and depending on how you measure it (seams pockets etc) it seems to be within the measurements given in the catalog. I contacted RR previous to my purchase about the weight discrepancies and I haven't heard back from them. Initially out of the box The Weekenderpack itself is everything I expect from RR. The pack seems well made functional and looks good. My 4-star review is for the catalog and website discrepancies. After a trial run in Europe I will update my review with my observations and critique.
