The Yachtsmen's companion sweater

You’re the captain of the S/V Argo, a 120 foot steel hulled 2 masted schooner operated by Action Quest, a leadership and learning vessel for young individuals.  S/V Argo travels all around the world educating kids with full college credits in such areas as marine biology, oceanography, leadership and nautical science.  You are on a passage from the Azores to Madeira Portugal.  It is a chilly night, and you stand watch from 12-4am.
